What
a team! – We are so proud of our girls and boys! They work hard to
master each gymnastic skill. All our young gymnasts are also
developing in many other areas. Following instruction, respecting other
team members, encouraging and supporting each other, and developing
teamwork are all areas we concentrate on. Teamwork is one of our
goals at AGYM. We all work hard to build a well-rounded team player not
just a skilled athlete.
Parents Night Out – What used to be called Late-Nite Friday is now Parents Night Out
(PNO). We think the name fits the occasion more accurately.
PNO is scheduled the 1st and 3rd Friday of each
month. This month’s dates are Friday, February 6th and
20th. PNO is from 7 to 11 p.m. The cost for the
evening is still $20, which includes pizza, drinks, and goodies. You
may also attend on a $5 per hour rate. Our hope is that PNO
provides an opportunity for parents to get out and kick up their heels, or
just stay home for a little quite R&R, while children have fun and
exercise in a safe, secure environment.
Can
you say CHEEER!!? – Part of preparing for cheerleading includes a time
of running and stretching. Each muscle group is carefully and
regularly warmed up and stretched to prevent injury and increase
flexibility. Increasing hand-eye coordination and balance is an
important part of cheer training. The cheer jumps and tumbling are
practiced and improved through repetition and corrective
instruction. Our staff also works with the high school cheerleaders
through group and private coaching.
Hey
Irving! We’re Here! – We are excited about our Gymnastics neon
sign installed on the West wall. This sign is making it easier to
locate our facility. It is also very noticeable from MacArthur,
which is attracting interest to the gym. We also have a temporary
banner on the old Ford pickup in the parking lot. We are going to
paint the old truck and add letters that adhere to the side panels.
Sorry for the frightful site of ol’ yeller (the yellow truck).
